Programming a new key?

Programming a new key?
I recently bought a 2002 V-10 excursion. I've got everything working but, I only have one PATS key and one spare uncoded key. My question is, is there anyway around getting a new key reprogrammed without having 2 PATS keys? or going to a dealership? Thanks for all the help!

$80? Wow!
When I had to get another key a couple of years ago, they charged me $140 or so. Granted, I only had one key.
They were going to charge me $20 or so for a blown fuse. I told them that was total BS as I had a whole box of them in the console. Should've asked me first before doing it.
$20 for a 10 cent fuse! Don't they have a conscience?

Yeah, all Excursions do.
Logical thinking, but nope, Ford put 'em on all Ex's.
All you have to do is look at the key. A PATS key is very different in size due to the chip.
F250 regular key. Basically a metal key with a plastic cover on the head.
Ford PATS key. You can see how much bigger the plastic head is.
Here's a translucent PATS key so you can see the security chip inside the oversized plastic head.
To the OP, with only one key, you either have to go to a locksmith or a Ford dealership.

99-07 Superduty doesn't have it. Would make sense if the X didn't either since it's basically a F-250 anyways
edit: go try and start the X using your spare key. That's how I found out my truck didn't have PATS
