Time for turbo cleaning

I think it's time for a turbo cleaning. 04 with 75k on the clock, on a wot run the boost on sgII says over 28 psi, so let off and I can hear the vanes are still stuck because its still over boosting. Park turn truck off and restart and she runs like a champ all day till another wot run. What do you guys think?

Did the same, now have 3000 miles on it without issue. My turbo was overboosting and vane sticking. It was quite dirty, rust and soot, now it run OK.
I now cycle the vane, push it to the floor once in a while and let go, you can see it going to 14 showing it cylces. I do that every tank of fuel while on the road.

it could also be the solenoid sticking. Follow the diag proceedure and find the culprit.

Started pulling turbo 30min to get to turbo with draining coolant. Ran out of daylight so gotta finish in the morning. Hopefully cleaning will solve the over boosting problem. Then install a ww on a buddy's 7.3

My turbo wouldn't boost over 10 psi. I thought for sure it was toast. I disconnected the batteries and did the relearn process. Problem solved. Runs great.

For everything prob bout 3 hrs. Just cleaned it with an air powered angle grinder with 2 in disc. Wasn't that bad since I already pulled the turbo to install the egr delete.

There's a rebuilt thread in the tech folder that might be helpful for you guys wanting to tackle diving into the turbo.

I found the coarse (brown) 3M roloc discs to safely remove rust and reduce pitting.
