Hi I was driving my 06 f350 superduty 6.0 down the road and it just quit and the dealer told me that I had a bad #5 injector my question is would just 1 bad injector cause it not to run?
Sure would....My truck did the same thing. Had it towed to dealer. Couldn't find the problem. They dug into it and found the #7 injector had blown an o-ring on the top of the injector and the motor was unable to build pressure.

IDS won't pinpoint a blown oring, just low pressure. If you paid for an injector because of a $8.00 set of ORINGs, well, that's stupid.
Ok this is what I was told the injector had hung open and filled the #5 cylinder with fuel and it hydro locked this is my 1st diesel so im in the dark they said that it was bad and that Ricart Ford in Ohio where I bought the truck was going to pay to have it fixed I have had the truck 3 weeks so they really stands behind their trucks the Man at the dealership said that they was commeted to coustomer satifaction that is why they ws the biggest dealer in this side of the mississippi.they said the price was over a thousand to fix it does this sound right?
mine was $1300 but there was about 4 hours of labor wasted because my OBDII connector kept blowing fuses on them and they had to figure that out first. Then they were able to begin diagnosis.
That very top ring that the HPOP rail slides into is called a D-ring and the whole set is about $8.00. You cant get it from Ford. It causes loss of high pressure oil and no-start. It could show a misfire code in history.
If you hung an injector open while driving it would not shut the truck down, but it would be smoking like a S.O.B. and fuel knocking. It wouldnt hydro lock a cylinder while running. Only after shut down for several hours. Either way, its good the dealer is fixing it for free.
