The only other possible explanation that I can think of is that your uncle did, indeed scrap the vehicle and maybe he is a bonehead and only got $450 for it when the scrap yard ripped him off. (This still means you could make a case for the fact that the truck was stolen since he didn't have the title and you had no knowledge of the thing going down.) The either the scrap yard sold the truck as it was to someone who fixed it, for they fixed it them selves and sold it (or are selling it).
That all assumes that the truck in that listing is actually your truck, but you seem pretty sure of that fact.
I can't wait to see how this one plays out. I would sure be getting the law involved either way. Unless you're willing to enable this scumbag uncle (either way this uncle is a scumbag) and take the $5k hit in the name of keeping the family peace, I would be getting a lawyer right about now.
Either way man, I hope this all works out for the best for you (and that you're not behind bars right now.....).
Ryan, I just spoke with my buddy that's a prosecutor here in Ohio, and assuming that CL ad is your truck, he says go to cops immediately and fill out a stolen vehicle report. Charges will include, but not limited to theft and unauthorized use of vehicle (the unauthorized part happens when he decides to sell it).
Secondly, if documents were presented as fraudulent, you will be able to sue for conversion civily.
I hope this helps a bit, but go file that report stat!
Im gunna give that number in the ad HELL!
Dont listen to any advice I have because it would involve brake lines being cut on the cummins..
House 'accidentally' catching fire...
Antifreeze being slowly added to all drinkable liquids..
Holy good gosh that's rough Ryan, do what's legally necessary, he stabbed family in the back. And that's not right.
Agreed, regardless of how this thing went down, "Uncle Richard", as I shall call him, lost the privileged of being treated like family. Time to let the authorities treat him like the crook he apparently is.
You don't treat anybody like that especially family. I am only speaking of what we KNOW for a fact he did, not necessarily the possibility that he intentionally may have been ripping you off.

I will say that if the police get involved, you're going to want to get a moderator or site administrator to go ahead and delete this entire thread. There's no way having all of this here can help your case, only hurt it. As much as I want to find out how all of this will end, I want you make sure that you win even more.
I know that I'm over here in southern IN, but if there's anything I can do to help make sure you get justice, let me know.
So hopefully by now the cops have been notified. Obviously your not in the pen, so I guess nothing got too wild. If you haven't already, and I hope you have, you should take everyone's advice. If you wait too long, your truck will be long gone and the police won't be able to do anything about it. Get the cops on it immediately.
call the seller as a prospective buyer...advise him you know of recalls etc and you want the VIN to check for previous recalls done and any accidents it was in...Carfax I believe it is....bull**** the seller...get the VIN...you surely have your title...if they give it to you and it don't match..."probably" not yours...if they hedge or claim "its raining out can't do it"...its "probably" yours...don't get hostile with Unc...let the police determine how it gets dealt with...a couple years down the road may give opportunity to "deal" with Unc on your terms...just my .02
