Was brought to my attention this am. One of our guys was telling me or asking my why the truck has to sorta warm up to get up to speed. He was telling me that it takes about 5 min of driving for the truck to reach beyond 20mph. This is the firest I have heard of this problem. Was saying that the truck wouldnt go past 20 mph after about 5 min of driving. Does any one have any ideas to what could be causing this. I wouldnt think this would be normal, but I could be wrong, prob not lol It,s not cold out weathers been unseasably warm out at that. We have rebulit the turbo about a year ago. Would it be going out again? Reasaon we rebulit it was the vains were dirty and cloged up. We are getting to understand why theses trucks motors are dodo . Thanks for any info guys
You have a cold engine strategy in the original programming that allows the engine to come up to temperature before you have 100% but it is not that noticeable from what you have stated.
What is your boost level? What do you read codes with? FICM voltage?
We just have a basic code reader at the shop here that I check trucks with when they have codes pop. I dont know what the boost is, dont have gauges on the truck. Its a work truck here at our shop the guys just drive daily.
i would be willing to bet on injector stiction or injector(s) going south. what type oil is used in this beast? You will need to get a scanguage 2, this will enable you to see a bunch of parameters. You will also need to check the main ficm power to ensure the ficm isn't partly to blame here. Also Was the computer ever flashed at the dealer?
Not a particularly weird problem. I agree with injector or FICM being the issue. FICM test is easier, maybe 30min and a multimeter (dc volts) and a helper to turn the key. Here's the procedure: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=899444
If this checks out, I'd check fuel pressure next (long shot). The dealer can do a power balance test to figure out if an injector(s) is failing and which one. BTW, lots of people here would disagree with the doo-doo assessment.
Hahaha, Im just saying on my part. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS since one thing went wrong then everything has been down hill from there. Its just a pain, we havnt had this many problems with all or 7.3 combined. HAHA I use 15-40 Mobile Delvac. What we use in all our trucks. He have 6 F250,s 7.3 and this one 6.0 F250. Like I said ever since we had the turbo problems and had to have it rebulit, its been down hill. Thers only 79,000 miles on this truck and I just feel were having to do WAY to much for upkeep and keeping her fixed.
