Dewd, don't be so hard on yourself. Seeing what you started with on your truck and where it is now, you should be proud of. And the fact that you did all the work yourself should make you even more proud. Funny thing about lacquers and enamels, they sure do fade guick. But nothing a coat of wax can't help with. And look at it this way flaws just add to the character of truck.
Askin' $7500...nice truck, but not perfect. (Says) 390/4-sp (don't they all?).
Lol all 360s turn into 390s on selling day. Man if I could talk him down it would almost be worth the trip out there. I say almost cause I have a wife who sees things differently lol
Whats the giveaway that it's a 77? My Ford Spotting Skills aren't quite up to snuff yet.
The grill shell is the best way to tell the differences but also be careful people can swap them pretty easily. Here's a pic you might enjoy studying; I know I have
Edit* the grill inserts, headlight shapes, and marker light colors. But again these can all be changed. There are of course more ways. You can also spot by the bed if it's got an open gas cap vs a square gas lid
NBCSteve I agree about the price being fair on that truck. However it's not what the seller is claiming. Is it possible that it has a 390? Yes, it could've been swapped in, but not there from the factory.
fordguy, actually you can also tell a highboy from the front end. The highboys all had a cross member under the front bumper that the leaf springs mounted too. The lowboy 250's didn't have that cross member. Plus there are other ways to tell a highboy from just looking at one, but these pics don't show those parts.
