There is a sticker under the hood that appears to be from the dealership. It is between the grill and radiater. It has a hand written PCM # and date. Does anyone know what this means? Was the PCM replaced or reflashed? I haven't crawled under the dash to compare the number to the PCM in the truck. I'm going to do that tonight when I'm under there working on the wiring for my gauges.
I'm not near my truck to look at it right now, but it says PCM and then has what looks like a PCM number. There is a date as well and it is all hand written on a ford sticker. I stuck in a very boring all day meeting trying to kill time.
Either way...Make sure it does match the sticker that is actually on the PCM under the dash. I don't have one of those stickers on mine so it could be that yours was replaced some time ago.... question is...for what reason.
I would have a Oasis report pulled on it. Could tell you what was done.
You should be able to get one from a dealer. Used to be a link of where you can get one online but that was looong ago. Not sure if it is still out there.
I can't make out what the sticker actually says. I bought a used DP Tuner and want to send it back to get reburned for my truck but don't know what to give them for a PCM number.
It could be the original was repaired but then later replaced. That is a tough call but I don't think Ford would of left the original sticker on the PCM if they changed the programming. I would go with the sticker on the PCM itself. Usually the safest bet.
If you can find someone with a Predator Tuner, you could hook it up and read the PCM code through the diagnostics. That was what I did when I bought my DP in 2008... I don't know if AE will read it; logic dictates it should.....
Thanks for all the help. I got caught up up in the mystery of why the sticker is there and what it means when all that matters for my needs right now is the NVK2. I am still curious though and might stop by the dealership and see if I can get an Oasis report or if they can give me any information about it.
