I got some more engine stuff done Friday night, It's almost complete except I ran across a snag. On the front side of the block there is a hole that drops down to the crank case. It looks like it may have been a dip stick hole for another application. My old block has a freeze plug installed and HIO and I thought thought a 1/2 plug would fix this problem but it was too big so its off to the parts store this morning to get a handful of various size freeze plugs. I looked in all my books and I was unable to identify the hole or its size. Any suggestions or thoughts?
I'll shoot a pix of it later today, right now its off to the parts store!
Tease: I received some eye candy from JBG yesterday.
Steve you might be able to drop to a 1/4 npt and that could work instead of the freeze plug. If not look into British pipe plugs they come in various sizes as well
Btw the truck looked very very tempting through the windows can't see how you lasted the day.
Thanks, I used a place out of Texas I think they are Tunderbolt Engines but I think they also go by ICT engines. I am using my exisiting Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock Carb.

I may try that if my fix fails.

I kept busy running errands and working, it wasn't easy.
Lots of more detail work was accomplished today. I painted all the brackets and accessories and cleaned more parts. I dumped 4 quarts of oil to prime the engine before I install the distributor.
I started to install the distributor but I wasn't happy with the old spark plug wires and the layout so I at the last minute I ran over to the pats store and purchased new wires and a wire management system.
Its all eye candy baby!
I made my own cable manager.
Here is the hole that I plugged with a 1/2 freeze plug. It wasn't a tight fit, it just dropped into place without a lot of resistance so I sealed it up with lots of gasket sealer. Looking at the old block it looks like the same procedure was done by the factory. We'll see if this works.
Does anyone know which motor mount goes on what side?
Looks like a go for a Sunday installation! I have just a few things to do in the engine compartment so I will get an early start.

It's not a pressurized gallery so it'll work. In a pinch, a hardwood dowel would work too... a solution from the 'Stang crowd cuz Windsors sometimes have the dipstick in the block rather than the timing chain cover.

I guess we'll figure it out upon installation but does it have a stamping like shown below?:

I'll bring a lime for the victory cervezas. See you tomorrow.
Thanks Mike, I used your pumpkin as my reference although I went on a slightly different direction on my build, you had a lot of influence on this project. Yes I can't wait, I woke up at 5:30 AM on Sunday to get this started, On my way to the shop in a few....

Steve I think he/pumpkin is the high water mark for detail and period correctness! Sounds like your day isn't going to be viewing thru your office window!
