i've called around a little this morning and took a couple pics. I'll try to get back under there and scrape off a little mud and muck to locate a few numbers. Here's a couple pics. Did see a plate cover on the passenger side.
That is definitely a pre '41 T9 4 speed, the integral half bell on the transmission case is another indication. You have to lift the button under the shift **** to shift into reverse. Reverse is toward the passenger side of the cab and back toward the seat.

After a long talk today with the older brother looks like I'm gonna try to rebuild the 6 cyl and put her back as close to original or the way she is now that I can.
The T9 is a spur gear transmission. It is direct drive, 1 to 1 ratio in 4th gear. They are a tough transmissions, double clutching is required. Unless you can learn to shift without the clutch, something I never mastered.

Project I bought already started with an alien 1979 Nova or Camaro front clip, 350 chevy engine, Edelbrock intake, TH350 trans. Chevy 12 bolt diff. I need to come up with a driveshaft, steering column, wheel, brake proportioning valve (1977 corvette style Master cyl. on firewall, etc.
I have a second 55 f100 project truck and a 55 f250 parts truck. if interested I have a 60 cyl engine, a 3 speed and a 55 4 speed trans, Y block V8 and 6 cyl manifolds and a 1960 marine Y block engine complete.
