Hello everyone, how can I find out for sure what year my engine was made in so I know what designs were implemented. I have an 05 excursion but i read that they carried over many 04 engines into 05 excursions. Also I read that the torque rating on 05 was upped to 570. I looked on my engine and it says 2005 but its rated at 560 torque?
Motor Build date: drivers side valve cover.
Truck Buid Date: driver door for the manufacture sticker and top left corner will tell you the build date
(dd.mm.yr convention)
I know what the production date split in the 03/04 trucks is but I don't know what the production date split is in the 04/05 Excursions. If you can see the HPOP cover on the back of the motor valley you can tell the difference.....
That information might also be posted in the Excursion forum.
I'm sure that all 05 excursions had the late production 04 motor. Also they all have leaf springs in the front as well. Ford didn't bother with the upgrades due to it being the last production year.

I know I'm very disappointed I wish I had coils instead of springs they are so much stronger better articulation and still softer. Ford ( and Chevy/dodge) for that matter all focus very heavily on the trucks and everything else gets the back burner. Hence Ford endong the ex.
