which engine
How do you tell if you have a 04 or 05 PSD 6.0L in your 2005 Excurson? Mine has a build date of 04/05.

Look on the passenger side valve cover. There will be a sticker with basic engine build info listing build date, and specs.

Late build 05' with 05 engines had updated wire harnesses for one.
Plenty of 05's out there came with 04 engines thru first part of the year.

For MY 03+, all early production X's of a particular MY had prior MY PSDs installed. It really does matter for correct part replacement/identification.
I believe the same was true from 00-02. Who has the facts on that?

I knew there were differences in the 03-04 timeframe but wasn't aware of the others later. Thanks!

I'm a July 05' build with an 05' motor, but seriously don't know how much of a difference it really is I still had to bulletproof.

If you have a mango/yellow sticker on your passenger side valve cover like I do, you have a 2005 engine. If it's blue, that's a 2004 engine you have.
It wasn't until the last few months of production that the Excursion got the 2005 engine. Mine is a July 2005 build date too and I have an '05 engine.
