Hi, I picked up a 2003 f350 6L for parts, has lots of body damage , alt is gone, and air box and the clamp for the turbo to ex pipe is broke. i am trying to start just to see if eng runs before i wreck it out . the key i got has no chipped ( i know my 2000 F is chipped) any way it wont fire even with either and by past at the starter. i have also drop the starter switch at the steering column turns on the instruments but will not crank eng thanks
No chip in the key on my '06 F250. I'm thinking it shoulda kicked with the ether if the pistons/valves were working. Be careful with the ether on this engine, the glow plugs can light it if you've been trying to start and they warm up good.
not even a brup. i was thinking of the glow plugs so i did wait till loug after the light was out. also the air box is gone so is the senser i should still get a brup you would think
This truck got to much wrong with it to start I mean if your bypassing the Ingnition switch and just sending 12 volts to the starter so it will crank the moter thats not going to cut it all
The alternator being out is another majoir problem the truck so computer controlled
In therory yes the either should have done the trick
IMO the only way to know if its good or not to do a compression test at each cylinder
Who knows an injector could have burned a hole in the piston
well after reading GACFSR Please HELP 2005 F350 6.0 cranks but no start i am very old school been out of the business for 15 years ECM and turbo where just starting. OK back to the BASICs compression check then i will know if its Worth going forward at lest that hasn't changed. thanks guys.
Im pretty shure they check Compression threw the Glow plug hole
just another thought is remove the Oil Filler cap and see if you get alot of Blowby while cranking it over. should have some vaccum there if theres blowby probably something majoir

There are lots of parameters that have to be in play just to get one to fire. Shooting it full of ether is only going to trash the pistons and rings. They aren't anything like the old IDI days for sure......
