I got some disc brake spindles from a 79 Bronco at Pick N Pull... I have been tearing them down and cleaning them before installing and noticed one of the rotors have some minor grooves on the back. Since they do a 30 day swap I was thinking maybe I could go back and find better rotors, perhaps off of a newer truck and get the most for my money. When I looked these up online at the part stores different part numbers appear but at a glance they seem nearly identical.
My question is are the rotors on the newer 1/2 ton 4x4's compatible with the hub/spindle/caliper setup from the 79 Bronco?
If so, great! If not these can most likely be turned.
Also, is it true that one well aimed whack per stud with a BFH should pop the studs out allowing for separation?

Reason: top secret
Look up if the parts will swap over in a interchange book. You local auto parts store/junk yard should have one.
Grooves.. can you feel em with your thumbnail? The grooves might be to deep to cut em.
As for the studs, yes one smack with a 4lb beater and they should come out. If you're planning on reusing em, make sure you put a lug on there to protect the threads
Its called the Hollander interchange, might do some searching around online or on a torrent or something. The pick and pull that you got the rotors from should have a Hollander.
Alright, its your call!
I didn't reuse my studs, cos more than 1/2 the studs were damaged (PO ran the truck w/o the studs tight). I think I dropped around $50 in all new studs on my truck.
I think you were fortunate to find a set of decent rotors in the JY. You might look long and hard to find a better set. I would run them with or without a light cut.
I am glad i brought up this conversation especially regarding the studs... Just popped mine out and they seem fine.
So when i researched the price for new studs ($2.26 each) i glanced at brand new rotors and rebuilt calipers... The calipers were $25 with the core i will eat while the used ones were $23... New Rotors are $25; same price as brand new ones...
This is for the premium grade stuff at Oreillys. Good thing i still can take them back.
At least this is that much less i will have to clean up to paint.
