So I just finished pulling off the old rotors, which were completly scored, now I'm trying to put the new ones on. However, I cant seem to get the hub seperated from the rotor itself, does it have to be pressed off then back on again? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm kind of stuck at this point and my manual doesn't explain how to get the rotor off, it only tells me how to get the rotor and hub off as one piece, thanks.
If they have been on there a loooong time then they may be pretty difficult to get off. I don't think the rotors are part of the hub, I'm not sure on the 1990. You might have some luck hitting on the back of them toward you. If your going to replace them then it won't hurt them. Hit on it a couple of times then spin a little and repeat. If that doesn't work, you may want to go to the local parts store and borrow a puller.
Check NAPA's parts. I know that they have reman hub and rotor assemblies. Not sure of the price, but I remember that they were not too expensive. This might be worth it rather than fighting with the old hubs.
It's a bear to do. You have to punch the wheel studs out and either punch new wheel studs back in to attach the rotor to the hub or you can pull them back in with a 1/2" impact. Either way, you will have to have the new rotor turned to get the crinkles out from doing it this way. Which is really the only way.
