Interior (mostly headliner) is trashed. Rear strut is bad. Oil leak, LOTS of oil consumption (3 quarts this week). A/C broke ... someone cut the wire. don't know if it even works. Doesn't have cruise control. That's Katie's biggest complaint about it. If the oil stuff wasn't too bad to take care of, I'd consider keeping it.

Almost 200K miles.

The escort is a good commuter car. Everything is pretty to fix and cheap. Except heater core been told dash needs to be pulled for that.

Pretty to fix? Huh, never worked on a car that was pretty to fix before.

Usually pretty and cheap don't mix either...

Well, the cruise is the big problem. A head job and A/C is cheap for that car...

The interior can be cleaned up to be better...

doing good. Hanging out looking for cars. Hopefully weekend won't turn out too busy. I've got plenty of stuff to get done around the house.

I might be able to convince her to keep it a bit longer if we could take care of the oil stuff and a/c. How do I know if it's just a head job or something more?

Well, you have to take it apart, but it's usually valves that don't close fully...

The car has been passed around the family and well used/abused. I smashed the front end in November. It's not pretty, but it's functional and in tact.

Closest I've ever been to doing a head job myself is the intake manifold gaskets on my '82 Mustang 302HO.
