hahaha... I guess I should go set up a shop in suppertown.
The bright side of Passats- They aren't all that modifyable (looks wise), so they aren't in demand with enthusiests. Yet, Volkswagon only made a few motors, so parts are readily available.
The VR6 and the 2.0's are 2 of VW's most reliable motors. The big thing with the 2.0s, you just have to do the timing belt every 80k. (it's super easy to do. Just retimed my buddies 2.0 last weekend). The VR6 is a timing chain motor.
Also, with the VWs, parts aren't that much more expensive (usually), unless you break something rare.
note: I happen to consider myself a VW enthusiest. Ford or German is my motto
Yep you probably could open a shop but still not many of those cars around here.

so you cut the local Ford dealer's shop rate in half, and only work on VW/Audi's... More then a fewof them will show up, just because it's way cheaper to get them fixed.
I'd have no problem working for $50/hr at the begining...
you can buy land out there for ~1000/acre. put a $30,000 building on a $5,000 lot. walla. shop.
That'd keep shop expenses under $1000/mo.
I'd just have to get 25/hrs a week to make it work. (not to mention all the part out opportunities to get extra $)

You still have to have those kinds of cars out here to work on and when the college students leave you may have 10 cars of that brand here to work on total. Good luck at $50/hr. Not gonna last long at that rate especially a new business with no reputation to fall back on to get customers in the door.

That one won't work. They just rezoned in the city limits and no way they are gonna let you work on cars in that location. They are gonna want you out in the industrial park. Time to build new! Not to mention that building would probably take $40,000 to renovate it to work on cars.
Hey fishface, did you ever find out who haxx0rd your account?
No waiting in an email, still can't log into mndiesel....

Not sure, was on the other night and the screen flashed and I had a message that said your password has been changed. It changed it to one I haven't ever used on here. So I then try the forgot your password message and went to try that way. Still can't log on after the password was reset.......

point is to get business and build reputation. Hence the low rate. Once the name gets out, rate goes up. Not to mention I'd try to be a small Used VW dealership as well. Some relatively rust free $2000 beaters out front.
It could be done, not that I'm going to do it. I happen to like my career path. But, If I was to find myself collecting unemployment-I'd probably bet my IRA on it.
It's too bad about that location not likely being able to be converted to a shop, It'd be darn near perfect for something like this. Decently close to a main road, relatively close to the university.
