Well........it happened.
@Gerry - Nice pic, I like the Ford tractor.
@John - I totally agree with the older simpler truck purchase. They are sooooo much easier to work on, especially under the hood. I'm pretty sure my '11 is my last new truck.
Are you going to get a hand shaker or slush box? I will keep an eye out for a '87-'97 for ya.
@Ron - Soooo jealous you have you have places to ride close to you.

This was Friday night's activities........

...have a great day!

As for my truck, I'm open to either. My wife can't drive a manual but I grew up on them and have always loved them....and I'll know what gear it's in.

I found a '96 F-350, one owner, 460 with the 5-speed hand shaker, 110k miles, bright red with grey interior. It's an XL so it's got a rubber floor and a vinyl seat...perfect! It doesn't have a spot of rust on it anywhere and it's got a clean CarFax. Guy wants $6,800 but I think $100 bills may lower that a bit. I'm not looking to spend that much on one but they're getting hard to find in decent shape and even harder to find in a handshaker.
I found an F-250 with a 460 and the auto, black with grey interior, XLT, 130k miles, fresh repaint though so I'm not sure if it's hiding anything, and it's real sharp. He wants $6,500 for it.
I'm still looking and thanks for looking around for me brother!
The rear end is going to get all new bearings, seals and ring & pinion.
It's taking me longer to clean up the mess than it did to pull the axle.

Trucks should not have carpet.
The '96 sounds nice at about $6K. I agree with Gerry, try to find one that is unmolested.
Good luck on the truck hunt.

You know Gav, I was telling my wife the same thing yesterday. I can be on a trail within 40 minutes of pulling out of my driveway. The more funner ones are 90 minutes away.

Talk about envy! ^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I'm gonna steer away from diesel for a little while now though. Since this has all happened and we're no longer looking at campers (for now), I'm just going to get an older gasser for a while and think about getting one of these beasts in the future.
We're still going to get a camper but we've put our plans for one on hold for a while. My in-laws really need us to be around right now so we wouldn't do anything with a camper now but let it collect dust.

I hope yours are doing okay. In my case, it's all a matter of priorities. My father-in-law sold his truck so now all they've got is their Buick Enclave. So, all of their hauling rests on me regardless of what it is. I'm definitely not complaining but it's a lot on both of us. These past several weeks, the truck's been parked and hasn't been taken out for anything. I'm not driving it until I take it to the dealership to turn it over to them.

That said, I need another truck and I need a simple one that'll just run the errands I need to run and move my trailer when I need to. It doesn't have to be fancy, it's just got to get the job done.
@John...keep searching, you will find the right truck that speaks to you
@Gavin...nice, just nice. I'm envious
@all...sorry I've been away. I'll catch up.

Congrats on the successful, albeit cold and wet, weekend. Sounds like everyone had a great time and there were a lot of successes when it came to earning badges!
Hope the little lady had a great Mother's Day. We had a great day here but the washing machine had a snafu and I ended up spending the better part of three hours trying to find out why it wasn't draining. Took me about a half hour just to drain the water out of it without making the laundry room into a lake.

Diagnosis............Legos, a couple of rings, two pennies, a dime, and a wad of what appeared to have been tissues at some point in the past, all clogging the drain in the bottom.

If I've told the kids once, I've told them a hundred times to check their pockets before they throw clothes in the hamper. It's fully cleaned out and running like a top now. Thank goodness I'm mechanically inclined because if we had to get service people out every time, we'd be hurting.
