Howdy, Gang!
I have a completely unrelated, off-topic (as if there were a topic in this thread) question. My new truck has managed to get a considerable scratch in the bed on the driver's side. It is almost the length of the bed, deep enough that the clear coat has been affected and visible enough so that it is driving me crazy! I am not in a position right now to drop the $500 deductible required to get it re-painted, so I need a temporary solution. Any ideas?
stu...that looks on the surface and not too deep. Maybe try buffing it out? If you have never done it, call a body shop and ask them, but it doesn't involve some labor. It won't be free, but it will be cheaper than painting the panel. How did that happen?
Well, I tried to buff it out a little. Whatever I had at the house didn't work at all. I'm pretty sure it's too deep for a simple rubbing compound, but was hoping someone had experience with some other over the counter stuff. My red truck got keyed and the insurance covered it for the $50 deductible. Because this wasn't vandalism (my wife did it), the deductible is $500. I didn't know that before I called the insurance company or I might have changed the story (not really).
She did it while backing into the driveway. She lost sight of the mailbox and the truck found it.
