I had a '66 F-100 with 3-53 Detroit. It had a 3-speed overdrive manual transmission, but it kept breaking, so I put an Allison automatic in it. Well, after that, the rearend broke, so I guess the manual was breaking before the rear; and then when I added the auto, the rear became the "weak link".
MAN!! I wish I still had that truck. That was in '90/'91, I had just entered the Navy, was young, broke and needed a vehicle, so it was sold at auction to get a more "modern/reliable" vehicle. I regret it today, but had no choice back then!

I know how you feel because I wish I would of never sold my 1991 F-350 diesel. It would of been a great second vehicle to have and my wife actually cried when the new owner drove away. We took that truck everywhere with our first born and had a nice 37' trailer. We have a lot of memories with that truck and she actually has a picture of it in our entry way with the rest of our family pictures. I posted this truck because I know John doesn't want a new truck so maybe hell jump on this one.
