Took the truck to Christiansburg and Blacksburg today and had a blast.
Oh and if anyone is heading toward Bristol or anywhere near here, the Love's Truck Stop on I-81 @ Exit 84 in Wythe County VA has 45 cetane diesel and they're running around 3.91 / gal. now.
Keep this thread going. Nothing is off-topic as far as I'm concerned as long as it has to do with enjoying the truck, the drive, and the time alone or with the family
I bought my truck used in Florida. Coco Beach. It's an '08 Lariat crew, 4x4 with the 5.4 I had about 18K on the clock and I drove it a little slower than normal, just getting used to it. When I drove back to nevada It was cruise control most of the way, running about 75. It used gas at about 18.2 mpg.
Since I've been back in Nevada, I seldom get north of 16 mpg. Mountain driving, [and my wife drives it too,] a couple of pretty rapid trips, one to Spokane and one to San Diego where I was driving fast. Averaged about 15.8 on those. What can I say, speed costs money? Right?
Headed out to ride in the morning...the 4wheelers fit perfectly in the trailer. First time they have all been in there at one time.
w00t! Loaded up the trailer and going to head North a couple of hours to my cousin's land to ride tomorrow. Should be pure heaven pulling the trailer, riding and then drive home!
I miss riding. My Sporstman sits on my back porch waiting for my pending move back west to Vegas. I used to love piling the ATVs on the trailer three times a month and driving around all day in the mountains on 20 bucks worth of gas. Cheap and fun entertainment!
First day I could leave the windows down all winter. Passing a tundra he decided it was a drag race and stomped on it. Seeing the look on his face when he realized he couldnt stop me from passing .. Priceless! Love this truck it gets better everyday.
We left early this morning and headed North a couple of hours. The new Super Duty pulled the trailer like it wasn't even there. I would love to say I was impressed, but I was expecting a nice ride and the truck delivered. Once we arrived, we unloaded and got ready to ride:
We road the heck out of the atv's and had a great time! All of them rode really well! We used the winch on the both the Polaris and the Can-Am to remove some downed trees from the trail.
We loaded up and the drive home was so nice. I saw a lot of trailers on the way home. We passed a few of them too! The truck just is so nice to drive. I never once felt like I needed more power, control or stopping power. I was more than satisfied. I can't wait for the next trip! Kids washed the 4 wheelers when we got home. It was great! Tomorrow they will work on the trailer!

Absolutely outstanding!! Thanks for sharing!
Another great day here today. It's really kind of funny now because my wife would rather take the truck when we go places than her Denali. My '05 F-250 was a Lariat also but she herself has said that there's no comparison between the two trucks. She also said it pained her to actually have to tell me that I was right.

Yes, this thread is great buddy
It went GREAT. It is amazing how this truck handles loaded up. When I did the math this AM Water + tank + my fat butt + my wifes skinny butt + 2 kids + mother in law (ain't sayin) + gas for quads + gear etc = 3,850 lb. Prob over my payload (will check when it is light out) but the truck handled it like it was nothing. We headed out Sat AM and came back late SUnday night. Had a great weekend (lots of water for showers).
The truck squats almost exactly 2" with 3,850 lb payload!!

Still loving my truck!!
That is an awesome water tank. You could retro-fit it for diesel when the apocalypse happens. 10,000 mile range sound about right?
Christiansburg and Blacksburg is where I do most of my driving. It's a fun place to have a diesel truck. Lots of highway driving, easy traffic, plenty of mountains to climb, and enough snow to keep things interesting.
Ive never flown anywhere in fact the farthest my feet have ever been off the ground is when the old uprite silo was full of silage. If I cant drive ther I dont need to be there.
That's usually my motto too, but have flown to Chicago for several business trips, when time didn't allow for driving. And that may be the case for this trip too, since my soon-to-be-husband is the Best Man and has to put together a bachelor party for a bunch of jarheads (his terminology, not mine) the night before. So we may not have the luxury of taking two days to get there.
Sad, I know she'd be the most awesomest vehicle there!
