I have a 2011 F150 SCREW Limited 4WD with a 6.2l which has the 3.73 gears and about 77K miles. I have had the truck about 9 weeks and so far I am averaging 8 -9 mpg in town driving and about 12 on the highway. This is babying it too, no lead foot, fast starts or fast driving since I am purposely trying to get the most mpg I can. No loads yet either.
I will be getting it into the shop for a tuneup very soon to see what can be done to bump those numbers some. I am disappointed since I usually can get mpg greater than what is stated by the manufacturer.
Also, this is manually calculating the numbers. The mpg computer on the truck is stating 11-12 in town and 13-14 on the highway.
Dash usually says 13.7, haven’t checked to see how accurate. K&N cold air intake and 35” tires, crew cab FX4. Can’t say how much the intake helps because I put it on not long after buying the truck
Just finished a fishing trip up to Canada and back to Oregon. Stock truck with stock Goodyear wrangler tires, terrain mostly flat with only a couple of small hills. 95% highway driving at 65 - 75 mph. With the rest either in town or on gravel forest road. Truck with two adult passengers and 3 suitcases and 7 empty ice chests going up and the same passengers and luggage with 600+ lbs of fish coming back. 1277 miles using 89.1 gallons of gas. Trip meter 14.6 and hand calc at 14.3.
18 CCLB FX4 XL 3.73. dash reads 12.9 mpg average for 1600 miles so far. It has been slowing creeping up since new. 60% freeway. Most of the time I take it easy when driving. No towing or hauling yet. I'm hoping it can reach 13-14 after fully broken in.
2018 with 9300 miles - lifetime average is 12.4 mpg. That is 75% city and 25% highway. Leaving on 2000 mile trip this coming Friday. Thus far, I am very impressed with the 6.2, my 2017 6.7 averaged 14.5 mpg when I sold it with 9k miles.
I'm getting around 13mpg in the city and close to 17mpg on the highway, with about 5K on the odometer....thats at 70mph on the highway, running flat country with minimal wind....add some wind and hills into the mix and it knocks off about 2mpg depending on the hills and wind speed.....I'm finding that its quite sensitive to fuel quality....I had to fill up with some no-name fuel up north and there was a noticeable difference in performance and fuel economy.... when I got back down to civilization I filled up with Shell fuel and it was like driving a different truck.....even filling up in the city, I notice that theres a difference between where I usually fill up and the Shell fuel.... the truck seems to pull better at low RPM without downshifting on the shell fuel.... might have to switch.....
It's funny too as it is all additive packages over who actually blends the fuel. Could be you're the only guy buying the premium and it is older at your station than the more crowded one near the freeway.
Pretty much everyone ships fuel to locations that then load trucks from the tanks on their site over trucks fueling inside of specific plants.
Roll up, put in your card for the load and the additive package gets put in. Load the fuel and drive to the gas station while the additive package is being "splash blended" inside the truck's tank. Unload fuel into underground tanks and start over.
A quick update on my '16 with 4.88's and 37's. I I have sold my house and moved further from work to the campground temporarily while we build a house. I now have a 24 mile commute one way. Most of what was added is prime mpg conditions on a 50-55 mph hwy(which means cruise set on 60 in the early am and 57 in the pm) with only 2 red lights and light rolling hills. My dash average before the reset was 10.2. After 2 weeks, I'm bouncing between 11.9 and 12. I think this will get a bit better, as I have been towing a 6x12 enclosed occasionally back and forth to get some odds and ends from the house before closing. Looks like a cheap gas getter may be in my near future though.
I too enjoy this thread as I am a new SD 6.2 owner. My truck is a ‘16 ccsb 4wd with 3.73. I got 15mpg last weekend traveling thru Texas where speed was as high as 75mph with cruise. This is hand calculated. I have not computed my next tank at a little slower speed but my economy meter was showing 16.6mpg by trips end. If I apply the same percentage error as last rank that gives me a 15.9-16.1 mpg range. This is empty with only me in it..... I’m pretty satisfied with those #s. We will see later where she sits towing later...
I finally took an hour drive on highway with my truck unloaded usually it has camper behind it. This tank with the highway trip of 1 hour each way at 70mph speeds and mixed country road driving is right at 14mpg. Truck is a CCLB 4x4 with 4.30 gears and 275/70/18 factory Goodyear AT tires. Pulling the camper 38ft 10k TT at 65mph is right at 8-8.5mpg.

Glad you updated us as I just put 4.56 gears, 35" tires, and the 87 daily/tow 5 star tune on my truck. In my mixed daily driving i went from averaging almost 12 mpg to right at 10.

Whats your drive look like? I have been averaging 12.1 on my 4.56 and 33s as I have been breaking the gears in, mostly just alot of highway ish mileage. We have a few hills around here that u was driving through so probably not quite the best because of that.

Its mostly highway but with lots of stoplights. When i had 3.73s and 33s i was averaging around 12 if that gives any sort of baseline. On the freeways at 70mph i could get 15. When i went to 4.56 and still had 33s it only went down slightly. When I added the 35's i could feel a huge difference. The tires are just so much heavier than my others. Also the 35s are MT's and my 33s were highway michelins. Then i added the tune that makes it easy to open the throttle. This has also been during my gear breakin period and i also havent been on the freeways at all.
