Door turned out really good. Got that back on and everything else back in it.
Put the rest of the interior back in too.
Changed out the water pump. Forgot how easy they are on a 7.3
Also got my New billet emblems on as well.
Still wish I could of found a Visor for it
Then I decided to take it for a ride This is the 1st time I drove the truck. I was expecting a harsh ride. It actually doesn't do to bad. ALso pretty peppy for having a hole drilled in the driver manifold for a ETG probe but nothing in it yet
I just signed up to comment on your restore. I was searching for my own project, nowhere as in depth as yours. Great work and I hope you find a buyer to reward you for it. With the equivalent of that truck going for over $50K you should.
I have a 2003 F550 I bought new, XL 6.0 4x4 6sp 9'flat bed, just like the one you restored. I have to say I was shocked in the condition but I guess I'm getting older. Being a '99 it could have been made in '98 so, that was 14 years ago. Time flies.
My truck has a whopping 35K miles and is pretty well mint. The dealership insulted me with the trade in value so I'm putting some money into both of my trucks instead of buying a new +$50K truck. She is going to have a super single wheel conversion, lift to fit the tires, and then become my ranch/hunting truck. A small crane will to be put on the flat bed to haul the 200lb spare tire and help haul up elk/moose carcasses. Lockers going in both axles too, detroit in rear and arb in front. My 2000 F350 CC LWB is getting some of the same treatment. Love the 7.3.
Nice work once again. Oh and the only way a helicoil goes wrong is operator error...
Yeah. It will be for sale. I just cant justify the need for this truck. It would cost me a MINIMUM of 1500 a year to insure and 572 a year for registration
You can insure F550 cheaply if you sign it in as a commuter or RV, once you declare it for material hauling - you need commercial insurance.
Same with registration. My 30,000lb stickers on F450 with other fees cost me $711 in CA
I hear 'ya states are different I understand. I own a heavy equipment business and hauled my JD650H and JD410J with it. I tag it and my 13 ton trailer to carry 35,000lbs each year around $300. Wyoming taxes decrease as the vehicle gets older used to be more than that. I have had state farm since it was new with no rate increase that I am aware of since the truck was brand new. I still carry full coverage on it since it was/is part of my business.
I remember when I lived in the DFW area insurance was more expensive in Dallas than Ft. Worth.
