What transmission do I have?
I just got a '97 Club Wagon E-350 15 passenger van. From what I have read it could have an E4OD or an 4R100 transmission. Both have the same pan and gear ratios from what I can tell.
My tag reads:(1 F75P-LA
PRA-NAA
00022899
8D-6J04
and stamped on the trans is something like: PFF 75P 7006-AO 96 (I think the 6 is probably a 0).
Does that make mine a E4OD? What's the difference?

The difference is that the 4R100 has some stronger internals. The easiest way to tell the difference is that the 4R100 has two speed sensors on top of the trans, one near the front and one at the back end. The E4OD does not have these, but most have a speedo cable connection at the back on the driver's side.

I don't feel anything let alone see anything upper front nor back so I guess it's a girl, er I mean an E4OD which I guess stands to reason since it was a late '96 build.
I would feel emasculated were it not for numerous offspring to prove contrary...
One thing I found climbing under there though is it's awfully clean and doesn't have any leaks. An unexpected yet pleasant surprise. To quote a Disney character, "yeah me."
