I followed fmc400's lead on both the wiring, and speaker choice with no problems at all. I did a write up with picture a fews years back on installing the window felts, speakes installation in my door, and drilling the hols etc if you do a search.
The doors have drain holes in the bottom so water does get in there, but Im sure mine leaks a little more than normal. I bought new LMC felts 4 years ago and theyre already ruined. All the felts falling off and theyre cracked. So theres no way Im putting a nice set of speakers in without some protection from water and dust. Does anyone know where to buy a quality set of door window seals from. That last longer than 4 years.
I took a couple Springs and hooked them under the dash. Tied a knot in some heavy duty wire under the dash & inside the door.Hook the spring through the knot under the dash. Use hard plastic gromets for the wire to slide through. No more pinched wires! A good way to line your holes up is to run a screw into the door frame where you want to run your wires. Close your door so the screw marks the paint on the door then drill the holes to size for your gromets.
