OK, it's taken me almost a year, but now I'm getting down to the stupid stuff.
1979 F150 4x4 351M C6. When I bought the truck, it had one working speaker in the passenger side door...drivers side didn't work, and had two big speakers behind the seat that weren't hooked up.
I installed an amp sometime ago, replaced the driverside door speaker, and hooked up both big speakers behind the seat.
Now I want to get picky. Some one (previous owner?) Did a half hearted job on the wiring for the door speakers. Yes, it involves duct tape. I can't tell by looking how Ford had originally wired the speakers in the door. Through them tiny little holes in the pillar?
If anybody has good door speaker wiring, I'd really appreciate a pic or a good description thereof.
As far as I know, only the factory stereo-equipped trucks came with a speaker in each door. My 78 Bronco had them; there was a harness, the leads to the speakers were labeled "left channel" & "right channel". Yes they were run through the pillar, above the top door hinge if I recall. If you look at a door shell & pillar from a truck without stereo, there is a dimple in each indicating where the holes would go. The harness had rubber boots and a sheath over the portion of wires passing from pillar to door.
