Hey I recently cleaned the throttle body on my 93' F150. When I did, I moved the intake hoses up and over the throttle body. Didn't disconnect anything. It ran perfectly one time, then after I shut it off and started it again, it revs up. No check engine light, no warning lights at all. I tried hitting the gas to see if it'd go away. Nope. Ran it through a few gears, nothing.
My dad reccomended (because he's run a mechanic shop for over 20 years) to check all the vacumn hoses going into the intake manifold. See if anything was un-hooked. Nothing looks unhooked. I also had him print off a vacumn hose chart so I could see what I need to look for but I'm stumped. I have a few wild, from the hip guesses, but I really need some help with this one.
You cleaned your TB? Did you leave it on the truck and clean it that way or was it taken off? Did you use a TB gasket when put back on? The TB has 3 vacuum hoses going to it along with 2 coolant lines. The IAC is also on the TB. Was that cleaned as well? Have you moved your Idler bolt? If you think it's a vacuum leak, try taking some WD-40, or Carb/Brake Cleaner and spray a small amount around the TB. If there is a leak, you'll know immediately.
I didn't disconnect anything other than the intake hoses. I didn't take the throttle body off either, I just scrubbed it out with a soft bristled toothbrush and wiped it out really well. Should I take it off and clean it again? I kind of did this with no instruction other than common sense. My idler bolt (If its what I'm thinking it is) is literally glued in place. I can't turn it. There was no way it moved. I'll try the WD40 trick when I get home. I appreciate the help.
