cleaning the throttle bores
Check previous posts...hit the search button at to p of forum page and type in throttle body or throttle bores. Don't know what type of engine you have, but here's what I did on my 90 F150 4.9L. Removed throttle cable, air bypass valve solenoid connector, removed throttle body (four nuts). Then I got busy with some nylon brushes and carb cleaner. Swabbed the throttle body nice and clean and then soaked the intake bores, too. Removed some of the intake gunk after it softened with long-bladed butter knife, then went after the bores with brush and cleaner. Caution: don't use the little red hose on the can of carb cleaner when spraying the intake bores, you don't want to risk blowing that little red hose off and down into your intake. Reassemble in reverse order. Took me about 1.5 hours and now truck runs much better, especially off the line.
