Cleaning Throttle Body
I took my throttle body off on the '93 today to replace the TPS and the back side of the TB and the intake manifold has a lot of black oily residue on it.
The TB has a sticker on it saying not to clean it and I've had one other member tell me not to clean it.
So what should I do about the crud in the TB and manifold?
Why should the TB not be cleaned?
Thanks,
Rob

It's real easy and gave me a bit more throttle response.

But - the brake booster vacuum hose is well downstream of the throttle body on my engine - not sure if they are all that way.
It seems so simple to spray TB cleaner on it but I don't want to screw it up.

I fill up the front tank all the way then dump a can of seafoam in the tank
idol Response improves big time.
Then do the same with the rear tank.

FWIW, I just cleaned my upper intake last weekend. I let my TB sit in mineral spirits for a day and a half, and now I have a very pleasing 700rpm idle that I didn't have before. So, be careful what chemical you use, but there is some room for experimentation.
Also, I used to twice a year take a toothbrush and a can of deep creep or TB cleaner, or whatever, and scrub away while the TB was on the engine. That might help a bit, too.
