Interesting. My pump is alongside the frame rail, I think about where everyone else puts theirs and it primes just fine in a matter of seconds. The pump is below the normal fuel level in the tank (unless the tank level is pretty low) so it should have some positive suction head on it. When I first installed the efuel system someone told me that I didn't need a shutoff valve between the tank selector valve and the pre-filter. When I changed filters the first time a steady stream of fuel drained out so I had to install a shutoff valve.
Maybe if you run out of fuel and just add a gallon or so to get going again, the tank level is below the pump inlet and won't gravity feed the pump.
My pump is mounted more or less inside the frame rail. I wanted to keep everything up high to keep it out of harm's way. The bottom of the filters are lower than the pump by a good 6" or so.
That is cool! I will consider it for a post filter solution.
I used this only because I have it kicking around and used it to empty my rear tank when I did the swap and to transfer the fuel from the front tank to the rear tank when it started leaking. Home Hardware
