So, ive finally got the cam out of my truck that has been popping and backfiring out of the carb. Finally, figured out that my heads needed a complete rebuild and they're at the machinist. I found out that the cam is a crane cam 133042 which has a duration of 272. Is this going to be to much for my 400? The 400 has a holley 750cfm carb, edelbrock intake, and had straight up timing. My machinist thought this might be too much for the truck and i haven't had too much experience with this and just wanted to see if anyone can give me input on what they think... I dont want to put this cam in if its not going to work well with my set up. Any info would be great and i hope im not being to vague. If i am let me know and ill try to elaborate the best i can.
Did so already. Shouldve mentioned that. When i brought the heads to the machine shop he said that one of the previous owners just put on the valve springs without paying attention to what goes where and thats why the guides and valves had damage. It caused them to be super loose im guessing from wear. Now the pushrods.. How would i go about knowing the proper length? Im new to this and learning as i go so thanks for all the help so far!
