Question RV Cam???

What is the difference between an RV cam and the following 268H, 265DEH, and 255DEH? What applications are they suitable for??

The 255 I would consider an RV cam and the 265 I would consider and RV cam for a 400.

If yo uare building a 351M I would opt for the 255. If it is going into a 400 I would go with the 265. I'm not sure if the 268 is a dual profile cam so I could not comment. If you are using stock heads then the longer duration on the exhaust is desirable.

I want it for a cleveland 2v. As mentioned in my prvious two post, I am supposed to have an rv cam in it right now but engine feels weaker than when it was bone stock and 2bbl intake. Maybe I have something wrong here. My setup is as follows:
Edelbrock performer 4bbl intake
Edelbrock 600 CFM carb
MSD ignition dist and 6a box
Hedman headers
RV cam (maybe since shop that rebuilt engine could not give me specs, so they said)

I thought this setup would have given me a pretty stout engine but I was extremely disappointed.........................

If they can not give you the specs.... you do not want it. Chances are it is a cheap single profile cam.

The cam is the single most imprtant piece to building these motors. Everything else about them is pretty typical.

I currently have automatic c4 but eventually plan on installing an aod with a wide ratio gear set from a newer model. I have most of it complete but neet to get some measurements to install the correct plastic spacer to close it up with the pump. As for tire size, I wanted to go with a 275/60/17 on 9 inch wide wheels. Don't knwo about ring/pinion gear yet. I want it for a daily driver....

Dan Lee has given you a couple of really good choices in the other post. Either of the extreme engery or dual energy cams in the 255-268 range will work (they are both great cams choices). Need to know your ring/pinon ration to match the RPMs with the power band of the motor.

ok,
Don't want to be rude and interfear the topic, but i just bought a cam (RV) for my 400 in my lincoln. It say's:
valve lift: Int-484 / Exh.-510
Duration at .50: Int.-204 / Exh.-214
Lobe centerline: 112 deg.
From idle-4400Rpm.

As my setup (wich i have to put on) is exactly the same the topicstarter, i wonder if i got the right one, as i also don't want to be disappointed after a lot of work...

(only thing is i don't have the headers yet, still looking for them.)

Thanks!

That is a good basic RV cam that a lot of people run. Looks the same as the E-brock cam.

If you go to comp. cams website and down load thier cam selection software (it is a Desktop Dyno lite type program) and put in you engine specs it will give you a list of recommended cams. You need to have air flow numbers for the heads to really get it to work right though.

ok.
i plan on (in the future) tow a motorhome of 2000 kilograms, approx. 4100 pounds.
Will this be the right combination, or do i also have to alter other things?
we're talking about:
-full MSD ignition, including distributor
-new cam, hydr. lifters, springs, etc. spec's above
-new edelbrock 2171 performer intake
-holley throttlebody with impco 425 gas carburetor
-180 deg. thermostat
-large oil cooler (the one with an adapter between the oil filter)
- maybe new hi perf. waterpump, not sure yet.
- maybe additional or just larger tranny cooler, not sure yet.

have i tackled everything to go on a good hasslefree holiday-trip? (in the future)

Thanks.
