99 f250, 7.3 L started up yesterday just fine ran a little rough drove two blocks and when accelerating engine sounded like it was missing and suddenly the engine stopped. engine will crank but no start, and the "wait to start" light is not illuminating as usual. fuse #30 blew. replaced the fuse and it blew as soon as turned on the ignition. 30 amp circuit runs the fuel heater, wastegate solinoid, and Injector Driver Controller. Anyone experienced this issue...haven't had a real chance to really do any troubleshooting on it yet but my guess is it the injector driver. Thanks.
X3...mine did the same thing.....I suppose unless you live in Alaska it's not really necessary....mine has been unplugged for 4 years.
OOPS...X4...I'm a little slow!
I disagree on it not being necessary.
Even if it doesn't usually get cold enough to gel the fuel where you live, (plugging the fuel filter and starving the engine) it is also your WIF "Water In Fuel" sensor... Without it you could potentially have enough water buildup to damage your injectors, or minimally make the engine run like crap.
Thats why I gave him the link on how to rebuild the fuel bowl. It will show him that the connection operates the heater and also is the sensor for the WIF light.
Just remove the fuel filter and unplug the wire from the heater inside the fuel bowl, Then you can reconnect the outside connector and you still have the water in fuel function.

Thanks Bob. Will doing this throw a code? I didn't know you could do this.

Didn't think of that.....but I do have a filter before the pump on mine that catches most all of the water that would otherwise get into the fuel bowl.
Thanks for the info..that will def. save me time. too bad they run a circuit to a non essential that shuts down the entire engine.. had a camero one that did that....when the fan blower went bad it would blow the fusible link and shut her down....
