blowing fuse

I hav'nt signed on in awhile but I have a problem. This is a 99 f350. The # 30 30 amp fuse was out when I tried to start the truck this morning. Ran fine yesterday. Replaced the fuse and it blew as soon as I turned the key. Manual says it runs the bowl heater and the IDM and something else. I also have no wait to start light. Any help? Thanks A Curtis

Your fuel bowl heater is more than likely shorted out. You can get the part from Dieselorings.com. He also has the instructions on that page. To check it you can simply unplug the connector on the outside of the fuel bowl, then replace the fuse. If it doesn't blow, you need a new heater.

DO what ken says unplug the heater from the fuel bowl. make sure you tape the end of the connector so that it doesnt ground out and cause the same problem.
