I have a 97 f250 7.3 power stroke I started this morning and it ran for about 30 seconds tried restarting and wouldn't start. Now there is no wait to start light. I checked the ips fuse and it wasn't blown, drained the fuel bowl and it's getting fuel and still won't start.
To explain why - the heater shorting out is probably what blew the fuse. So if you just replace the fuse without disconnecting the heater, it'll probably just blow again.
IIRC, there's something non-essential on one of the other maxifuses. A/C, maybe? Check the owner's manual. You could swap that fuse in for the time being.
Its a blessing to finally tlk to some guys in 7.3 lingo nd they understand.
I bought a 1999 e350 7.3 diesel 4 window bus off a guy tht said it needed the icp changed.
Changed the ICP and only made it a mile down the road, or when i tried to push over 45 mph, she bogged down.
Pedal to the floor and was only doing 5 mph then completly died.
Fast foward a year later, i dropped the tank and replaced the broken fuel pick up,
chnged ICP, Fuel pressure sensor, checked fuel filter, changed battery cables, bought new batteries, and she starts right up and idles perfect.
But i took her around the block and still doesnt have the power of a 7.3 when i push on the gas, bad decrease in acceleration.
Ive done my research and was going to unplug the fuel heater from the fuel bowl ,, but someone before me already did.
So my last two options before i lose my mind is , replace the ground wire from body to frame that was completly rotted which could be messing with my fuel pump.
And to try yalls method of replacing fuse 22.
If yall have any other advice, i am listening. Thank you,
Short Bus Shawty
It might not be a bad idea to start your own thread, your issue could be from a lot of different things so more information might help us think of some good things to check.
That person seems to have a similar issue. It would be worth looking into that thread as well. It appears his issue ended up being that his injectors were worn and needed rebuild/replacement. That's not necessarily a cheap thing to do though, so I'd look into other routes they took on that thread as well. It wouldn't hurt to update with what you've tried in case anyone here can chime in for more help!
My first thought is Exhaust back pressure valve. Is it stuck shut? Make sure it is open and not closing. Like Bubba said, might want to start a new thread
