Transmission Tag Decoding

I have a C6 behind a 460 in a 75 F-250. Engine and transmission swap where done before I bought this rig last year. I need to know the date of manufacture for transmission so I can complete installation of shift kit. I found the tag and it reads like this:
PJA C7 F27
D5AP GA2 39313
I also found some casting numbers on transmission
D5VP-7006-AA
Numbers on Valve body:
RF-D7AP-7A101-AA
(Also a tag under one of the bolts holding the filter on marked “NK”)
I can’t seem to find anyplace that decodes these, any help would be appreciated.

PJA-C7 ~ D5AP-GA2 = 1975 LTD Police Cruiser/Taxi Cab C6 400 2V.

PJA-C7 ~ D5AP-GA2 = 1976 LTD C6 400 2V except California.

The valve body was replaced at some point after 1976, because it has a 1977 ID number prefix: D7AP

I believe the date of manufacture will be June 2, 1977 (F27)

Hey Bill, did I misread the date code (F27)? I thought that would be 6/2/77 as the build date. Or would that be read as June 27?

I noticed that, but 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog (available on a CD from hipoparts.com) only lists the PJA-C7/D5AP-GA applications for 1975/76.

A service part replacement trans could have a June (F) 2, 1977 (7) build date.

btw: You cannot look up 1973/79 Bronco parts unless you have this catalog (scanned from the final edition of 11/88).

NumberDummy, thanks for the help. I’m not a transmission guy, and would like to pick your brain a little bit. My shift kit calls for 1 type of spring for 2-3 shift valve for 1976 and earlier, and a different spring for 1977 and later. You ran my numbers and came up with 1976 on the trany tag, and 1977 on the valve body. I don’t know that it will make that big of a difference, but do you have any advice on this? Im installing a Transco reprogramming kit 67-1&2. Once again, thanks for the help NumberDummy

I don't have a cross reference for the ID number D7AP-7A101-AA valve body to a Ford part number.

All I can find listed is: D7AP-7A100-BA, -BB, -DA, -DB, -GA, -GB.

Ask Mike what he thinks.

I try not to think, it gives me headaches.
I really don't think it'll make that big of a difference. But seeing as it appears to be a '77 valve body, I would use the spring that matches the valve body.
