The turbo was being such a stubborn PITA that we were losing daylight and time and abandoned it because I wasn't at my house and this truck needs to be up and running.
The EBPV housing came off and I went ahead and gutted it. It's been unplugged for a while, but now the housing is gutted and the rod is just hanging as I didn't have time to get the turbo off. I didn't see this as being a problem, but please tell me if it is.
DP was a moderate PITA but not too terrible. The rest of the exhaust went well and sounds fantastic.
Just like Darin warned me, the SD HPOP went slow as this was my first one. Got it in and no leaks! If/when I upgrade, it will go much smoother next time. Thanks to The Duck for the writeup. Reps to come. Just curious as to about how long it takes for all the air to get worked out?
Anyway, sorry for the novel. Too many cigarettes, beers and busted knuckles to not ramble. The few pics I have, I'll post tomorrow
Todd, it takes awhile to get the air out. I can't remember on my pump change but when I did my injectors it took forever. Once I got it running I went 80 to buy a trailer, didn't shut it off and 80 miles home. The next morning it still started rough.
Ya those turbos are a bitc! But I look at it like this, at least we can change them out. Some of the new ones, forget it, LOL
The air wont hardly come out of the oil or the fuel system idling. It has to be driven for a while. I am glad you clipped it in one day TS. You havent seen any leaking by the EBPV have you?
Those turbos are funny things. I battle with those things , but , I have a buddy that can pull one in a few minutes. He lives like 750 miles from me so its sort of inconvenient for him to drop by and pull one for me. I ask him what he does that I am not doing and he says I am not holding my mouth right.
The Dp was one of the easier tasks on your agenda. It still took a minute though I bet.

The EBPV was leaking, but I don't think it is since its been unplugged. Maybe come spring I'll get the turbo off and gut it properly.
