Exhaust question

My 97 7.3 is bone stock. Looking at doing a few mods over the course of the up coming year. I don't plan to replace my injectors until they go bad. What I was really interested in doing is upgrading the exhaust. Id like to be able to hear the turbo whistle out of the exhaust. What's it take to make that happen? I'm a total noob to this stuff as I've never owned or worked on a diesel. I hear alot of talk about up pipe and down pipe's. Do those need to be replaced also? Please be gentle with me. LMAO

Straight 3"-4" or 5" turbo back exhaust, and a 6637 will get you there

First, I'd like to say, I'm more go than show, when it comes to mods. That said. I have the 6637 mod, and a 3" DP, and the cat was deleted when I bought the truck. I can hear the turbo spool at times, but not constant. I did walk up on a 6.0 the other day, and I could the turbo before the exhaust, or engine. It did bring out a man grunt in me.. LOL I'm going to try a muffler delete on my stock exhaust before dropping the money on a 4", but that is just to see if I can drop the EGT's a bit when pulling the travel trailer.
