Its a tight fit , but , I have never beat my firewalls in to put one in. A bottle jack wont operate laying on its side or at least I have never gotten one to do so and I have tried it a few times.
ts that sounds like a good set up. You should have her breathing right soon. The exhaust upgrade will help your EGT's also.
Straight pipe for the win!
May add a rain cap later just cause I've always liked em
I hope you dont plan on 'rollin coal' much cuz then you gotta clean soot off your rear passenger side and bumper.
I just stuck mine out behind the rear passenger tire.
Sounds like fun this weekend!
Once my T-500 gets back to me... ill have something to do.
Well something FUN to do. there is always stupid crap that could get done.
Yeah I know. Not much of a coal roller and with stock sticks and no chip, she won't do it. I do only have about 160 in my exhaust which is exactly what I was going for
Ah very nice man!
And you may not have em now...but someday you will! lol
I typically build things for my 'future' plans even if I cant afford it now.
Hence why im putting in a t-500/IC now... even tho im only upgrading to stage 1s.
Cant afford the required upgrade of a turbo that comes with 2s or larger.
You have to get the supporting mods in before you can go big with the power mods or you are just pissing in the wind.
Stage 1's are a big improvement over stock. I have never heard anybody complain after moving up to stg 1's.
Yeah the big sticks and turbo upgrade is where you will drop the most coin. I put about $3k in mine when I did that. I wouldnt go to stg II's though if I had it to do all over again. I would have would have went with 230 ish hybrids with big nozzles. They run just as good on economy , but, really show up when you turn the power on. They arent as smoky when driving around town either. The inj's have really come a long ways in the last 5 yrs.So many people have been playing with them for so long that there is a ton of technology out there now.
My fuel system and clutch set up wont hold much more than what I have now. So to go any further I will have to reach back into a really deep pocket. I just cant justify it and its my work truck and I need it to be reliable like it is now. Since the economy went to hell in a handbasket the deep pockets have really shallowed up and there isnt any diesel mod money laying around in there.
I did scrape together some Bronco build money though. I probably shouldnt have , but. I need something to keep me occupied or I might get in trouble.
3" DP is the way to go. I put in a 3 1/2" because I got a really good deal on a complete exhaust system a guy was selling that bolted right in. It a Bassani system if anybody has heard of them. I played hell getting that DP in, it took several attempts with the porta power to get it right without hitting anything. Guys on here said, don't worry about the firewall, there is nothing behind there that you can hurt. That's a good thing because I bent the heck out of the firewall. Bottle jack, hammer or pry bar-forget about it unless you know something I don't.

I've read the DP and turbo horror stories a lot on here. I've come to the realization that all this stuff is basically going to have to jump right in there or with minimal fighting, for me to get it all done in one day.
Thats why I'm holding off on the gauge install. That and the fact that my pyro didn't come with a probe and I still need to buy a tranny gauge. Oh well, hard to complain when they were Christmas gifts.
Between the 3 of us that will be working on this thing, theres about 75 yrs worth of wrenchin experience, albeit the first time for all of us on most of this stuff.
Without FTE, I wouldn't have the knowledge to tackle this stuff. FTE FTW!
Ya Todd, three of you will get a lot done but if it was me I wouldn't get my hopes up that it will all get done. I always take my time so I don't screw something up. I'm lucky that mine is not a daily driver. I do my best wrenching when I walk away and think about it, LOL. I'm not a fast mechanic, I'm not a slow mechanic, I'm a half *** mechanic.
bruno2, I've read that a raised truck the DP's go in easier. Mine is just a 2wd. When I put mine in I layed in the snow with my blizzard carharts on, no fun. My garage was full of stuff, as always it seems like. When I do work inside the garage my wife bitches about the smells, I can't win. I need a separate garage.
I did a 4x4 (stock heighth) and a 4x2 both. Neither of them were easy.It is easier with 2 people for sure. One guy up top working that end and another guy on the bottom working that end.I am totally serious about this . Whenever you get that thing twisted and snaked into position do not let go of it assuming it will stay there b/c it was so hard to put up in it. That DP will fall smooth out like it was never in a bind.
Well my mandrel bend 4" 45, weld on exhaust hangers, 3.5"/4" adapter, ipr o rings, pedestal o rings and HPOP o rings all came today. Looks like Sat is a go.
