I have searched and found several pages about removing door pins. But I’m not finding anything about installing them. I got my truck with the pins already removed. How tight should the new pins be? Should they just tap in? Our will they need a good whack with a hammer? I have tried to install them and they seem very tight. Any ideas here?
It's better to have them a little too tight than the least bit loose. You shouldn't have to hit them too hard but they will take a firm hit to get them to go in.
Maybe the door hinge parts aren't from the same door? If post side and the door side are from different trucks the hole might not line up perfectly, causing a slight bind. I'd try to make them work as is before trying to reem them to line them up.
I see you are in Ind . So much for letting the door and hinge side of the cab sit out in the sun and warm up this time of yr. Have a heat lamp or two ? Set up the lamps on a ladder close but not too close to the hinges and the door . Put the pins in the freezer over nite . When ready to install this should help enough to make the pins slide in a little easier .Use some type of lube ( grease on the pins ) Wear a glove to hold the pin as not to transfer body heat to them . Used this method here in Fla. and it helped quite a bit . Good luck .

You gotta be a scientist to install one of them dang pins.
i thought i read somewhere that replacement (some?) pins come slightly larger to make up for wear in the hinge. i bought a pair of replacements and pounded them one in, never got one completely in.
