Much depends on what they will "key" on. There have been valve failures (albeit few instances) but water contamination is a definate no-no. Water in the cylinders could be from the valve failures or from the teardown itself. The water contamination to be concerned with is internal fuel system. Rust in there is from long term exposure.
Geez Ford must have advised all dealers to use the catch phrase water contamnation to deny warranty on all sorts of items. Im not sure I want to be that parnoid about a truck due to the fact Ford is not standing by the warranty on these expensive vehicles. I did read one post a while ago where the air filter ingests snow and was wet and frozen on one guys truck.
They say because of the oil boom we have going on down here, they are short on diesel mechanics. That's why it took them so long????? What do I need to do, just take them all the info from here or what?? Thanks

Wow. Engine failure with just over 30k miles, 6 weeks without your truck and still no commitment to make you whole under warranty. This and a few other stories around here are not making me comfortable at all with my planned spring 2012 F350 6.7 order. :-(
I'm sure Ric is looking at this situation with empathy...Wish you luck with the warranty.
Again, problems can occur to best of products, it's how a company treats the problem that really matters.
My heart goes out to the OP...I have been in those shoes...if the dealer is not working hard for warranty coverage, he is in for a rough time...as to FOMOCO's treatment of loyal customers...

Hi Rick, how's that truck holding up since the new motor? Or did you trade it in. Wouldn't blam you if you did.

We did not get a new engine...only a $10,000 HP fuel system. Truck runs just like it did before the big failure.
I have not traded the truck...yet. The plans we had for a big toy hauler were put on hold for at least 6 months so we do not have to trade right now. We were leaning towards the new 2013 GM trucks because the new larger cab was rumored to be introduced in August 2012. We do not want the current mini-cab GM truck. If Dodge goes to DEF injection in their 2013 HD pickup's, they will get the sale.
