Alright so this is my second thread and hoping to get just as much help as on the first. So as of right now I have pulled a tree smashed cab off a 7.3 diesel. We are going to take the cab off a blown V10 truck and switch it over. Question is what differances should I look out for and which harnesses HAVE to be switched and can any of them stay? Also the cab we are using is Automatic so I now have to modifie it for manuel trans so not happy. Thanks for any help, tips, or tricks.
i think all of the harnesses have to go
i have read that the hump in the floor is lower on a auto and you may have to cut the floor out and weld in the old one.
i will find the link of where a guy put a zf6 in hie truck that had an auto.
I'm going to say your Dash Display in the V10 cab will need to be changed out to the one in the 7.3 cab. Hope it wasn't damaged when the tree fell on it.
Ya I figured I would have to change out the dash harness and what not but the Diesel Cab harness and the Gas cab harness look EXACTLY the same so anyone think the wires are same? Ford smart enough to do something like that?

Yup, the dash would be different for sure. Here's another variable to consider as well. On the 7.3 equipped trucks, the '99-01 dashes are different than the 02-03's. Not sure if the V10 trucks also changed over in '02. The '02-03 trucks have a different gauge layout, the electronic odometer, tranny temp gauge instead of the voltmeter, different warning lights (glow plug symbol verses the "Wait to Start" and the Air Restriction warning light). Just a couple of things off the top of my head that are different in the dashes.
I told my boss he was F**king retarded for taking this job to begin with but he says work is work which is bull cause I know he aint making enough money on this job to justify the hours he has to pay me and the time it holds up our lift and not to mention all the towing to move these *******s around. FML!!! Well I'll keep on keepin on and let you know how it goes.
O also the V10 is 2000 and the 7.3 is 2001 so I should be good with everything swapping over. Weird thng is though the headlights are different between the 2 trucks?

Is one an XL trim level and the other an XLT/Lariat?
No they don't say anything really. just the fenders on the V10 say F250 and the the badge on the tailgate says F350 so my boss an I are all confused lol
i hope your boss is paying you good to do this. and i would hate to be the guy paying to have it fixed.
to be safe i would say only the skin is the same all wire plugs dash have to be changed.
Is there any chance you would have a left over grey crew cab carpet from an automatic transmission truck in excelllent condition when all is said and done? I have a grey manual transmission carpet from a crew cab in excellent condition if you would like to trade. You can PM me.
the tach is different. diesel tachs at 3000 rpm gas motor 5-6 . need to change the whole cluster.
Ya we already figured on using the diesel cluster and dash wiring.

Well I'm lazy and tired so I might just take my chances. Considering all the wiring involved and the way it's ran I'd like to think Ford was smart enough to consider the simplicity of a cab swap in case of situations like this. The dash and engine harness of course I am changing but the cab harness itself is what I'm taking my chances with. Also I make $12 an hour so no matter how long it takes I'm getting paid believe that one lol

Thanks,

The gas truck is auto and uses a grey floor piece. It's not carpet though it's the plastic floor cover stuff that you can just hose off when it's dirty. I'll PM ya when it's all said and done if it's not all messed up.
