i know this is wrong forum, but not really. i need ur all's advice on something. if my truck is totalled out, do you guys think a v-10 will get 11 mpg round-town, and 14.5 on the rd, with a manual tranny??? (short wheel base ext. cab, or single cab long bed) our 460 gasser only got 9 round-town with auto 4x4 lwb ext. cab. i hate to desert the 7.3, but just thinking how much newer i could go.
If you want to go newer. Take the check for your totaled truck, buy it back, part it out then take that money and buy a newer Superduty with the PSD. You can get a decent one for 15K
well, i can get my dads old 99 with 6sp and 215,000 miles for 10900. probably 11k on the road. but, i could go even newer, and low miles on a v10 for under 15k. what ya think?
the v-10 is a good reliable motor, if you get it replace the spark plugs and make sure they are all tight, ford didnt have them in too good from the factory and the famed 5.4 plug blow-outs can happen on v-10's as well if the plugs work loose. other then that they are powerhouses and with a good intake and exhaust my buddy's got 11-12 city and 14 highway, never over 14 though
ya, i think i'll just go buy my dad's old stroker. it'll last forever. it needs tires, but the body&performance guy i know has a set of 16x10 rims and coursier ct tires for it for $800, so thats probably my route
Our family rig is a V-10 Excursion. I hate that it's an automatic, but other than that, it's a great rig. It's all stock, and pretty darn impressive in the power department. For an 8000lb+ rig, it gets up and goes. Pulls a camper trailer with no troubles at all. We get around 12mpg in town, maybe a little better like 13-14 on the freeway, about 9-10 towing our trailer. I'd bet with a manual you could do a little better than that. Only thing that is scary to me is the thing will rev unbelievably high, like 6 grand. I really do like that motor. I'd like to drive a 6 speed V-10 sometime.
