I want to install a cargo light on my project ('73 F100). Originally it didn't have one. I've located and bought a NOS light, switch and wiring harness.
Now for the question, does anybody have a picture of what the mounting hole in the roof looks like? And if you had the dimensions, that would be great.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mike
What year light did you get ? There are 2 different styles. The hole in the later ones, 78-79 are pretty crude, just hacked in. I don't know about the older ones.
IIRC, from 67-77 (ya they're all the same again!!) The hole is rather keyhole shaped, wider at the Drivers side like 1" in diameter, and then a slot about 3/4" wide and two inches long, for about three inches total length. I remember someone on the forum having posted a photo, but not sure exactly who. Might have been Grinnergetter. I'm headed to the JY later today and will check to see if any of the trucks have one and getcha a photo.

Yup, they're different after mid-77, the change was at s/n Y60,001. I've got the early style.

Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get. I've been trying to find a picture of the mounting hole so I can come close to duplicating it. All I've been able to come up with are pictures of the light not the hole.
None of the trucks in my local yard had the cargo light, sorry. I know I saw a photo in one of the build posts here not too long ago, but don't remember who's.
Hey, I can finally help this guy for a change. The left side is a bit bigger than it's supposed to be. I photographed the hole in the truck that I removed it from so this will be close.
Put the gasket on while you remove a little at a time. The light sits in there horizontally and it can fool you into thinking the hole should be bigger than it need to be. You get it when you do it.

That's the same problem I ran into. Around here there are only a handful of dents in the yards and none of them have the cargo light.
Thanks for checking.
