In-cab Light option sought
My cab light is in poor condition, and so are my eyes. I'm thinking of updating the cab light to a design with a focused map-reading light that shines in a focused, pointable beam. Has anyone found a currently available light unit that fits the hole well, and doesn't look too modern or star-wars? this is the overhead light I'm talking about. I would rather not enlarge the hole or drill the metal if possible.
Attach pictures of your solution if you can.

Well it doesn't meet all your criterion but the best I've seen is a dome/ reading lamp from mid 80's early 90's bronco. You have to enlarge the hole and do some wiring but it looks stock.
I've got all the parts for mine but have not installed yet. Seen it in other trucks and was impressed.

Kevin, I would recommend a day in the salvage yard, searching until you find what you need. Most all American make use the neg. ground system, so find something that trips your trigger.

Old Lincoln Dome Light with Map Lights...........
These used to be fairly easy to find. They were in some of the Ford and Mercury Cars also and some of the later Ford Pickups and Broncos. They work GREAT!
Also, consider putting a small courtesy lamp on the bottom of the dash at both ends to light up the floor. I did that and what a difference just doing that made! The original dome lamp seems to add to the "dark hole" hiding the floor during dark hours. These courtesy lights took that all away and even made the dim old dome light seem brighter!
