Does anyone know a vendor who would have the 1975 Explorer Package exterior body stripe decal? This was a stripe decal that ran down the entire length of the truck and across the hood.
Thanks, Tinlizandgriz
There are still a few available from some obsolete suppliers, the last time I checked no one had the white but black, yellow and orange were still available.
If you want I can search and post the part numbers and suppliers that still have them but I strongly suggest you DO NOT BUY them!
These stripes only had a shelf life of about two years. After that the glue on the back of the vinyl stripe sets up and glues itself to the masking paper and will no longer peel off making the stripe useless.
If you want to use it as a pattern, that's a different story.
Personally I'm going to have my stripes painted on.
Thanks for the replies. I bought a '75 F-250 4X4 with the Explorer package new. It was white with the black stripe and had the factory Ford canopy on it. It was a sharp truck and I am about to begin restoring one to match it. A friend of mine in Montana also had one and had a body shop try to match the stripe from photos but it didn't turn out that well; the curvature across the hood was wrong.
As you mentioned; any NOS stripes would be for templates only. I've tried several suppliers across the country but with no luck. I wasn't sure if there was an aftermarket producer I hadn't heard of yet that was manufacturing new ones.
Any help with NOS availability would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tinlizandgriz

That striping kit is exactly what I'm looking for, only in white. My 1975 F100 Explorer is so faded that the section across the hood is no longer visible, so I haven't even a profile to copy. If you happen to find an aftermarket kit, I'd be interested to hear from you. I couldn't find one in the LMC catalog.
The Explorer package is a limited edition option group/package from 1968-1986.
Since the limited production run, and each years (begining with 1973) stripe was different, it would have very limited to no aftermarket support for them.
CAVEATEMPTOR = Let the buyer beware! These NOS stripe kits will prolly be NFG!
These stripes are composed of two layers, the adhesive layer and the stripe layer.
Over time, heat causes the adhesive layer to become adhered to the stripe layer, so when you try and peel off the adhesive layer, pieces of the stripe layer come along with it.
