My truck is a 1995 7.3 2wd 4.10 and auto. Its all stock except for a 4 inch pipe. the truck has 160k on it and ive owned it for 12 years. It has all the power i need for a dialy driver. thats the problem i drive about 50 miles a day. i am looking to get a little more MPG. Does anyone have rock solid proof that a tuner or chip would help. also would a intercooler help also if so what is the ceapest way to do that? i know a gear change would help. but the trans has never been rebuilt and thats my big concern. i do pull a couple different fifth wheel trailer at times. i currently get 16-17 average. have not check the winter blend this year yet. jackk
My old 97 4x4 f250 zf5 got better with a chip if I kept my foot out of it
My 96 f250 2wd auto is getting worse and worse but it's got 346k miles on stock sicks
I average 19 at almost exclusively 70 mph with the mods in my sig. I have 3.55s but with a 5 speed that puts my final rpms about the same as your auto with 4.10s. My truck liked the new air filter, downpipe, and proper fuel pressure the most. Gutting my cat made a noticeable difference too. Then after that I have small but noticeable increases with tuning, injectors, etc. I expect after guages and proper stage I tuning to see another increase.
Yeah, my mileage dropped when I got my Stage I's. It wasn't great when I had stacks either...
My problem now is that since it started raining I can't take off from a stop quickly at all and I can't pass anyone on the highway because my truck won't move... WIsh I had posi. lol
