They need the part number that fits and all except one I saw matched with mine. They look all the same though, would build in but not work.
That is what I was told at Ford at both places
funny...because that is a bald faced lie
ANY radio from a 2004/2005 through 2008 Ford with the same style double din radio will plug into and work on ANYother Ford from those years. Even some 2003 models have those radios.
I sold my stock 08 Expy radio to a guy with a 2004 F-150. I even put it into his truck for him. Bolted right up with no modifications. He had a XLT with my Premium 6 disc/MP3 radio (3 harnesses on radio vice his 1 harness for truck)
Disclaimer:
Exluding NAV...they must be programmed to vehicle build
Base radios have 1 harness plug - the main power, speakers
Mid Level radios have 2 harness plugs - main power/speakers, steering wheel controls/Aux input
High End radios have 3 harness plugs - all the above and a Subwoofer output
If you Expy only has the 1 harness, a 3 harness radio will work fine. Make sure you don't use a Shaker 500 or 1,000 radio from the Mustang. They depend on the Door speakers for the bass. They don't sound right in non-shaker vehicles due to that.
I got all of the adaptors and Ford Expedition kit but honestly I had it installed as it was not much.
Been busy to check everything so where is the amp and subwoofer? Did not think it comes with a woofer.
looks good. I have the Kenwood DDX 616 installed in my Expy. You may not want the Sub connected if you have one.
Left interior panel behind the 3rd row seat is where you can find it. If the panel has a "grille" cut in there, you have a subwoofer.
I have my sub turned down to -6 on the radio...and it pushed harder than I like. I feel bad for the kids at times and have considered unplugging it. The Kenwood HU pushes alot more power than the factory radio does

I'm pretty sure all Eddie Bauers, Limiteds and King Ranch's came with the Audiophile setup which would include the subwoofer located in the driverside rear panel. The amp is mounted to the top of the sub enclosure. Just crank the bass up and put your ear to the sub grill, if it's not thumping then it's not hooked up.
What wiring harness/adapters did you get and where?
My guess is the shop that did the install didn't hook up the sub plug in the dash to the radio. Seen it happen numerous times.
Thanks for all of the answers.
The subwoofer is not working for sure. I think there is a sub but can't remove the grill to check. Also I am not sure if worked before but I think so as the bass was rather dominant.
I guess I'll drive back to the store and let them check it. They might have messed it up.
The radio settings do not show the subwoofer option activated.
Hey guys - 1st post but a long time reader. Same thing happened to me yesterday. Listening to radio with ignition off & it the radio turned off (time expired while I was waiting) so I turned the ignition on then back off & continued to listen to the radio. When I went to start the Exped, the battery was dead. I got a jump from a friend and it appears to be fine. Fired up 15 minutes later & haven't had any problems since, only the radio backlights, steering wheel controls, and AUX input.
2 Questions: what is the exact number/unit that I would need for a factory replacement [Audiophile, Rear DVD, Sub - but no Navigation System]? I've seen a couple out there that I think are the same, but want to double ck.
If I do go with an aftermarket head unit, exactly what would I need to maintain working order of all current stock options - Rear DVD, Sub, Steering Wheel Controls, Aux Input. The head unit won't be DVD or Navigation.
Thanks everyone - greatly appreciate your insight & experience.
Get This....had all fuses checked when I jumped my 02 navigator and radio went out, because all these fuses mentioned for the radio were not blown. Funny thing, is that the #30 fuse(30 amp) was blown. Replaced it and "WALLA", it worked! Now there is no mention anywhere that fuse #30 has anything to do with the radio/navigation system. Just an FYI
