WOW you guys are not going to believe this. I am wondering if something is wrong or its just a coincidence but the same fitting on the drivers side blew now. The part that comes out of the oil rail that has the check valve in it. It broke off exactly the same right flush with the top of the oil rail. I wonder if I tightened them down to tight. So I will be ordering another one in the morning. Everything was the same too it fired and then broke as soon as it started and then died.

Dang, that just stinks.
By the way, are you also reading the ICP volts at the same time as ICP PSI?
So are we talking the spot on the oil line that takes the special tool to get it apart right where the braded line goes into the oil rail
I havent ever separated it there I did some injector work but left it together and just twisted the oil rail out of the way for the injectors Guess I need to do ARPs

We aren't referring to the standpipes are we? Just to clarify, this is the part that requires a thin-walled chrome 18mm socket to install and torque to the proper 30 ft-lbs. of torque, where it threads into the branch tube. This is also exclusive to 2003 engines only. That said, I am sure you could possibly find a Ford tech that has more than a few extra of these laying around (myself included), since head gaskets from Ford include both standpipes in each set, leaving one that will be unused. 95% of the time, it will be the 2003 standpipe that is unused. I am sure that any tech that has a couple will be willing to unload it to you for a very small fraction of what you would pay if you were to order one through the parts channel.

Mike - could you confirm for me that the standpipe that Sean (Amdriven2liv) quoted is for both the 2003 AND the early 2004. They didn't make a separate standpipe for the early 2004 engine did they? Also that the late 2004 engines take the same standpipe as the 05s and up. My parts guide references sem to "muddle up" this model year info.

An early 2004 engine IS a 2003 engine. And yes, late 2004 engines use the same standpipes as 2005 and up models.

Thanks Mike. Just wanted to make sure the semantics were clear on my end (ie engine year vs vehicle model year). All of the tweaks between 2003 and 2005 in the HPO system are not completely clear to me. I need to refresh my memory w/ the list of changes!
I was also wondering about the oil rails .......... are there 3 designs (2003 engine, 2004 engine w/ wavy design for increased capacity, and 2005 and up engines w/ check valve relocation to supply port plug) .......... or can the 2005 changes be used in the 2004 engines?
Yea blade you are right. Thanks for the info mchan but it's not the stand pipes. Its the little fitting with a check valve inside. The fitting that can be detached from the hpo braided line and screws directly into the oil rail. Passenger side broke off flush with the top of the oil rail port that it screws into when it fired the first time. I changed that one started it again. It ran for a second and died. So I took both valve covers off and found the drivers side busted exactly the same as the passenger side.

The part that sean quoted is the part that I broke not the stand pipe.
Ok between you and Mchan I am confused lol. I thought the stand pipes were the tubes comming from the branch tube through the head? Is this part also called a stand pipe or do I have my facts wrong?
