Whaddupp!!!!
Rich I've forgot about that video. Actually there may be a few ka'Bluey videos on u-tube. That was one of the first runs, and we were taking it a little easy since we didn't know what we were getting into.
There's also a video of last years Christmas light display.
I like the Uncle Bob's storage you found. That photo is a keeper.

Howdy folks, question for someone more knowledgeable than me (not hard). Buddy had a towing question & I told him I didn't know. He's got an '03 saturn lw200. It's an auto. FRONT wheel drive. he wants to know IF he can tow bar it (all 4 wheels on the ground). Told him I've never heard of it with an auto. STICK, yes. So can he do it? Said something about he thought there was a disconnect with a key (for the transaxle)???

Yes, he ca do it, but there's a disconnect that has to be installed in the car. A place like Camping World would know exactly what to do. I think it involves replacing the CV shafts with ones that can be disengaged like the front axle on a 4wd. Just disengage the "hubs" and it's ready to tow.

Rent a front wheel only u-haul dolly? Cheap, quick and easy if there is not a "key" way to disconnect, which I would have no idea myself.

If it a one time deal, front wheel rental dolly, but if it a full time tow behind your RV kinda deal, digging into the cvc disconnect possibility sound like a better route?

Also the steering wheel would need to be unlocked (key in ing and turned to run) (remember to disconnect batt) so the car can track behind the trailer in a turn.

But I think they have 2 wheel dollies that pivot in the middle? Depends on what type you get. U-haul also rents complete car trailers.....

Morning to all.

Morning gentlemen, looks like fall is here to stay if you believe the weather guessers.

I used to work with a guy that towed a Saturn (Ion I think) behind their motorhome. Never thought to ask him about the drive axle. I do know he made the comment that the tires wear just as fast if not faster when the car is towed everywhere. Part of the reason we went the 5th wheel route instead of a motorhome.

...that is on our "bucket list" as well. Someday, I want to purchase a trailer RV that we can pull around the country...camp in all 48 states for a week or so...just unhook the pick up truck when it's time to wander around short distances.

Good morning boys and girls. It's Sunday!

Thanks for the help all. I'll send him a copy of that thing you posted Widow Maker & yeah Rich, he wants to do this full time. Says there's a couple places he goes that he needs it. Personally, told him I thought a trailer was the BEST bet with FWD. Front tires on the dolly are getting zero miles while the ones on the rear keep wearing just like you were driving it. Something else, he dent me something he found about towing them that said he had to shift into drive AFTER going from park or the tranny (okay, transAXLE) would still be in reverse & burn up??? Because it goes through reverse from park to neutral? That was my guess. Don't know how an auto. works, maybe a valve in the valve body doesn't move?? Bands/clutches engage & don't release??? Those were the only guesses I had. IF this works, here's where he got that. Somewhere near the bottom of the page.
