frame rail fuel filter ques.

I replaced my fuel filters yesterday and noticed something in the lower fuel filter housing. If u squeeze your hand in the housing at the BOTTOM. There is a indent at the very back. I feel all kinds of nasty gritty crap in there with my finger but cant get it out. I do notice on the side of the side of the housing (looking at the outside) there is a plate towards the front. A rectangular plate with 4 screws on the corners and one in the bottom middle. Do this plate get removed go get the remaining junk out? I didnt read anything on it with replacing fuel filters. I would like to get the crap outta there just dont wanna open a can of worms. Thanks

Here's a good breakdown of the pump: Page 29: Fuel Supply System

You should be OK doing what you want to do. A standard 5/16 and/or 3/8 fuel line removal tool will allow you to take the pump off the frame quite easily and quickly.

I would rather just try and take that plate off. Looks like I could clean it out from there. Im sure there is gasket behind there. Anyone know is thats reusable if not a part #. Stores around here are clueless to the 6.0. Actually I just dont trust them.
